Foods to Include In Stocking A Paleo Pantry

(all organic when possible)

  • raw/roasted nuts: almonds, truffled almonds,  walnuts, pine nuts, pecans (different recipes call for raw or roasted, buy as needed)
  • seeds: pumpkin (raw and roasted), sunflower, sesame, chia
  • parchment paper and foil or parchment muffin/cupcake liners
  • canned (organic, wild caught and BPA free cans if possible):  salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines, smoked oysters, herring, smoked trout, smoked clams, crab
  • white**  –  parboiled, Basmati, jasmine, or your preferred white rice (those with blood sugar issues or weight loss needs, should start off completely grain free)
  • nutritional yeast flakes (not brewers or bakers yeast, look in the baking aisle or the bulk section)
  • unsweetened canned coconut milk (Thai Kitchen organic is my favorite due to thick non-clumping consistency)
  • unsweetened canned pumpkin puree
  • baking soda and baking powder (gluten-free)
  • sea salt, pink or Himalayan have trace minerals (not bleached or iodized)
  • coconut, olive oil, avocado oil, walnut oil, sesame seed oil, truffle oil
  • almond flour (not meal)
  • ground golden flax-seed meal
  • white rice flour
  • buckwheat flour
  • arrowroot and tapioca starch
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • unsweetened carob powder
  • unsweetened finely grated or shredded coconut flakes
  • pure unsweetened vanilla extract
  • pure unsweetened almond extract
  • pure unsweetened rum extract
  • raw unprocessed honey
  • SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia Drops –  use the liquid stevia.  (the powdered has fillers like inulin plant fiber, that cause some people, including me GI distress – BAD gas!)
  • vinegar (balsamic, red wine, Bragg’s apple cider vinegar)
  • dulse sea vegetable flakes and kelp powder (sprinkle a bit in all soups, sauces and on salads)
  • hand mixer or immersion blender
  • bonus appliances:  a Vitamix and a pressure cooker
